There are a number of ways you can use this delicious Basil Sauce! The possibilities are nearly endless.
- Use as a dipping sauce for crusty bread. Try as is or with the addition of balsamic vinegar!

This delicious Basil Olive Oil Sauce only requires 6 simple ingredients!
Ingredient Notes
- Extra-Virgin Olive Oil - Use a good quality extra-virgin olive oil that's not too bitter. You can also use half extra-virgin olive oil and half light olive oil if it's too bitter.
- Fresh Basil
- Garlic - Adds a nice spicy punch.
- Lemon Zest + Lemon Juice - The combination of lemon zest and lemon juice adds a nice lemony flavor.
- Salt - I used sea salt.
- Red Pepper Flakes - You can also use black pepper.

Basil Olive Oil Sauce Instructions
The instructions on how to make this Basil Olive Oil couldn't be easier! You literally put everything into a food processor and blitz away!
Step 1 - In the bowl of your food processor fitted with an 'S' blade, add extra virgin olive oil, basil, garlic, lemon zest, a squeeze of lemon juice, salt and red pepper flakes.
Step 2 - Pulse ingredients until blended. Adjust seasoning if needed. Enjoy immediately or store in the fridge for up to 3 days!
Substitutions
- For the Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Some extra virgin olive oil can be quite bitter, so feel free to use light olive oil.
- For the Red Pepper Flakes - If you don't have any in your pantry, you can use black pepper.
- For the Garlic - If your out of fresh garlic, you can substitute with dried garlic powder.

Storage
- Fridge: Store in an airtight container, in the fridge for up to 3 days. For best results, bring to room temperature before using.
- Freezer: Simply transfer the basil olive oil sauce into an ice cube trays and freeze overnight. Once frozen, remove cubes from the tray and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.
Expert Tips
- Use a high-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
- Always use freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- If your sauce is bitter, you can add a pinch of sugar. The bitterness will mellow out as it sits.

- ½ Cup (25g) Fresh Basil Leaves, packed
- Zest of 1 Lemon
- A Squeeze of Lemon
- ¼ Teaspoon (or to taste) Sea Salt
- ¼ Teaspoon (or to taste) Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

- Wash and dry your basil.
